Mr. Neil, as I understand it you made the decision to move to Costa Rica in 2006.
Had you visited before and what made you choose the South Pacific area?

I first visited Costa Rica in 1991 on a sabbatical trip and I discovered what a special country Costa Rica and its people are. I returned on other trips to Costa Rica and found the southern pacific zone offered everything that my wife and I were looking for and we moved here in 2006. The specific area we chose, between Dominical and Uvita, is a special and unique location. It is well known that here the mountainous jungle meets the beautiful coastline, with abundant wildlife but with the all important creature comforts to make living and working in the area ideal.

I understand you have a Property Management company?

Yes YouGetHere offers premier high end property management and vacation rentals in Costa Rica’s southern Pacific zone, we provide a totally hands free service for our owners. Down to the most minute details, we manage and maintain each property to the highest standards, giving peace of mind to the owners, knowing their investment is consistently being cared for by a responsible and reliable local company. YouGetHere answers all guest inquiries, bookings and also handles the checkins and check-outs. We hand select our contractors and service providers to maintain the properties to a high standard of repair at all times, completely overseeing the on-site maintenance of the property, including all housekeeping, pool, landscaping and home-repair services. Our owners can rest easy knowing their property will be turn-key ready and completely clean and inviting upon arrival.

I had a chance to look through your various vacation rental offerings and they are luxurious and very well appointed and equipped?

We are proud of our unique properties, all carefully selected to have all the important elements to make a special and magical vacation. The well designed properties are especially chosen so clients can enjoy privacy within beautiful natural surroundings, inhabited closely by wildlife and additional exciting features on the properties such as nature trails with creeks and waterfalls and outstanding Ocean views and Infinity pools.

You have 30 years of experience owning and renting property in London so it was a natural choice to continue with a business in Costa Rica along the same lines but what have you found different as far as living and working in Costa Rica?

What I have experienced working in Costa Rica is the dream lifestyle, the pleasure to enjoy the beautiful natural surroundings, and working within this and all the new experiences of a different culture. We have enjoyed working and growing and expanding our knowledge & experience together with my wife and the YouGetHere team.

Tell me some more about your team?

Well we are a dedicated team lead by my wife & myself, incidentally my wife is the best trouble shooter and fixer I know! The rest of the team is made up of a sharp group of multi-lingual Costa Rican and international professionals from various countries, bringing a rich mix of cultural views and ideas to our team. After years of working together our team communicates and operates with a level of synergy and happiness that is uncommon in business nowadays.

What do you think is the secret to the success of your business?

Well our aim is to give our guests the wonderful experience of a special vacation enjoying all the pleasures of Costa Rica. This foremost necessitates providing a great property. Our standards of cleanliness and attention to detail are second to none. Our guests comfort is our number one priority and there is only one secret to that…hard work! We work tirelessly to maintain our high standards.

Yes of course, its always great to hear the fun stories of their vacation! But foremost we take great pride to have our reputation validated when guests return wanting to purchase their own vacation rental property and they ask us to advise, manage and rent their properties.

As a result of our huge knowledge and experience, built up since 2007, we are regularly asked to advise & consult for the ideal purchase of a rental property. Our huge pool of returning clients/guests are testament to our service & care.

What activities special to the area do you recommend to your luxury vacation rental guests?

We book & recommend selected adventures & activities and the choice is enormous! Rafting down a river or paddling through the mangrove in a canoe, boat adventures to Caño island, whale and dolphin  watching or deep sea fishing … Costa RIca is a popular destination for horse back riding, waterfall tours, ATV tours, zip lining and canopy tours & more.

Are there additional services offered to your guests such as a private chef or masseuse and other similar luxury options to enhance their vacation even more?

Yes of course. We want our guests to get the most out of their vacation. We provide full high end concierge services which include transportation, on-site chef, massages, a wide variety of tours & adventures with the best tour operators to name a few. Our clients tell us we provide the best ways to enjoy and relax.

While I imagine that a successful business such as this keeps your family and your team very busy, I believe our readers would enjoy knowing what are your personal favorite activities to enjoy in your free time while living in such a beautiful area as the South Pacific Coast of Costa Rica.

Yes we are always very busy but I manage an early morning sunrise surf most days when the tide is right. My wife loves animals and her passion is to spend time looking after our nine adopted stray dogs. We never get bored spending time relaxing watching the profusion of wildlife all around our home.
